RBR750 - Website Login "ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT"
I do have this problem on a number of similarly run websites.
The website administrator says this is my firewall (Orbi Firmware Version V4.6.9.11_2.3.5).
I can log in if I use cellular through my phone/ipad, thereby avoiding going via my ISP (Spectrum).
- I have power cycled the equipment
- Tried multiple browsers, clearing caches.
- Today I added to Orbilogin.net Advanced/Security/Block Services/'Never' "HTTPS". No joy.
I don't use Armour. I don't see how to whitelist, allow, or prioritise a specific website. Any suggestions on how I might test or fix this?
Thanks,
Van.

Only some websites, or nearly all websites?
Windows or Apple environment?
When did this problem begin happening?

p.s. The router option to "Block Services" is intended (literally) to Block some or all devices on the LAN from specific internet access. By default, the router blocks nothing. Any device can connect to any internet resource using any port that it wants to.

Re: RBR750 - Website Login "ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT"
Thanks for the reply.
- Only on three websites. Everything else is without issue. What makes me suspicious it's NOT the Orbi is that all these websites are similar databases probably not well managed.
- MacOS 12.6 Monterey. Problems on all devices (desktop, laptop).
- Began about four to six weeks ago. I haven't monitored Firmware updates. I'd purchased and installed the Orbi in June and, besides the usual initial set up teething, I have been headache free.

Re: RBR750 - Website Login "ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT"
It would be useful to verify that the web browsers are able to resolve the URLs into actual internet IP addresses.
On Windows, I would open a command window and type the command
ping <URL> (such as ping ford.com or ping www.spectrum.com) As an example:
ping ford.com
Pinging ford.com [19.12.113.37] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 19.12.113.37: bytes=32 time=73ms TTL=241
Reply from 19.12.113.37: bytes=32 time=73ms TTL=241
Reply from 19.12.113.37: bytes=32 time=73ms TTL=241
Reply from 19.12.113.37: bytes=32 time=107ms TTL=241
Ping statistics for 19.12.113.37:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 73ms, Maximum = 107ms, Average = 81ms
Notice how the URL ford.com was resolved to 19.12.113.37.
I have networking apps on my Android devices which include various tools, but alas am completely ignorant of how to do anything on Mac or iPad.

Re: RBR750 - Website Login "ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT"
I hadn't used ping before, but you can accomplish it on the Mac in the Terminal app.
PING ford.com (19.12.97.37): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 19.12.97.37: icmp_seq=0 ttl=244 time=64.749 ms
Whereas two of my problem sites give "Request timeout for icmp_seq 0".
The third site that was problematic I can now log in, and their ping appears good, like ford.com.

Re: RBR750 - Website Login "ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT"
ah. progress.
This gives the impression that the URL for those two web sites was resolved into IP addresses, but that they do not respond to ICMP (ping). Not all web sites do.
There is probably an equivalent to the Windows nslookup command. As in:
nslookup ford.com
Server: UnKnown
Address: fe80::a204:60ff:fe1c:239
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: ford.com.com
Addresses: 45.56.79.23
96.126.123.244
45.33.2.79
45.33.23.183
45.33.30.197
72.14.178.174
198.58.118.167
45.33.20.235
45.79.19.196
173.255.194.134
45.33.18.44
72.14.185.43
Orbi routers provide their own address for devices to use to resolve URLs (i.e. Orbi is a DNS server) That fe80:: is the IPv6 address of my Orbi.
If nslookup resolves your desired web site names into IP addresses, open Safari and attempt to connect directly to them using their IP address.

Re: RBR750 - Website Login "ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT"
p.s. It is really common for prominent organizations to have more than one IP address. Netgear.com has dozens.

Re: RBR750 - Website Login "ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT"
Thank you. Glad that helps.
You can do nslookup via Terminal on the Mac. The IP address it returns, pasted into a browser just takes me to a 404 error page (Microsoft). But so does the Ford IP. Again, not my area of expertise.

Damn. I'm not solving this. Wonder if MY Orbi will open those web sites?

I assumed that access is using a web browser. (not some other application)
By coincidence, I am also a Spectrum customer. If this is somehow tied to Spectrum, maybe it affects me as well.

Re: RBR750 - Website Login "ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT"
Yes, they are accessed via browsers.
The main one, I can get to the website. But the issue is not being able to log in. The login in fails with "ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT" As you're likely not a user, you won't be able to test this.
The other site I can't even browse to the site.
Best,
Van
