Brand new ORBI 6 router creates a great network with two satellites. Multiple devices connected to router and satellites. Alas - no internet. The RBR850 router will not communicate with my Genexis Hybrid modem, connected via the same Cat 5e cable through the same physical ports as my old RBR50 which still works fine when I plug it back in.
Is there any reason why WiFi 6 should require different settings on my Genexis (which I believe to be non-user-configurable)?
Or is the solution in the ORBI settings somewhere - I haven't fiddled with them yet.

No reason.
Ensure your CAT5E cable between the modem and the router is a fully fledged one with eight strands/four pairs so the GbE negotiation can work. Temporary workaround to overcome the very rare GbE auto negotiation issues is to loop in a simple non-managed Gigabit Ethernet switch.
Thanks I have changed the cable to one I know to be of high quality. No difference. I have now put the ORBI network into AP mode and it has accessed the internet and is communicating with satellites. I also seem to have a guest n/w which I had thought was not possible in AP mode. So for the moment I'm happy with it...

new firmware loaded - v.25 I think - once I'd configured the router in AP mode and could get online. The ISP modem/router doesn't have a model no... it's just a Genexis Titanium built on their Hybrid platform. And no, multiple restarts and reboots - with everything in the house turned off or disconnected - have had no effect.
The ISP modem does have a router built in. With my old RBR50 using the same ports and cable, it worked fine and although it broadcast its own SSID I never used it, preferring the Orbi mesh network.
My new RBR850 is only working in AP mode now. In practice it doesn't affect usability - I appear to have a Orbi mesh network throughout th'e house - but I wonder why it won't work in router mode.
Curiously when I was trying to set it up in router mode, using the orbilogin.net page on a computer the internet was showing as 'Good' even though it was not connected.
The RBR850 is configured for dynamic IP addressing.
There are problems having modems with built in routers and using external routers sometimes. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly. 2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode. 3.
