SSID name change no internet connection Orbi 850
We lost internet service last night so I rebooted all of my equipment. I could not get the Orbi router to work properly so I did a factory reset. Upon doing this, the router worked fine as long as I did not change the SSID.
Once I change the SSID and password, I am it is telling me no internet connection and my devices will not work properly?
This setup has worked fine for almost a year until now.
What do I need to do to be able to change the SSID and not lose internet connection?

Re: SSID name change no internet connection Orbi 850
A huge percentage of customers immediately change the WiFi SSID/password. I have kept the same WiFi credentials for over 15 years.
How is this router being set up? (using the web browser administration or using the Orbi 'app'?)

I am actually just trying to change the credentials to what I have been using before the reset.
I have tried using the app on my iphone and ipad as well as through the browser on my laptop.
It seems to be working fine with default sign in credentials but when I change the ssid and password, I lose internet.

When the Orbi SSID is changed, the radio system restarts and any devices currently connected to the Orbi no longer have a WiFi connection. What should happen is the device notices that WiFi dropped, looks for a WiFi SSID that it knows the password to, and connects.
Once the WiFi SSID/password has been changed, does it appear on the list of available WiFi systems?

Re: SSID name change no internet connection Orbi 850
UPDATE
I have connected to the Orbi 850 router with my laptop. All of the 2.4ghz devices appear to be connected and functioning.
However, my 5ghz devices (laptop, phones, ipad) will not connect. I can see the network listed but the devices wont connect. In fact, my laptop says connected but no internet.
While I am connected directly through ethernet, my laptop is working fine.

Re: SSID name change no internet connection Orbi 850
When and if you change SSID, it's best to turn OFF or disable devices wifi radios first. Then make the change on the RBR and ensure it populates to the RBS. Once the system is stable after the change, then enable 1 wifi device and have it scan for the SSIDs. Should see the new SSID, have it connect.
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.
