orbi ax4200 753S
I’ve got an Orbi AX4200 RBK 753S Tri-band Mesh WiFi 6 system; RBR750 and two RBS 750. House is 3200 sf total, 2-story. We have Cox Giga-blast service. On my Orbi app it shows download speeds of 750 to 940 Mbps (it will vary with tests rarely as low as 750 Mbps but is typically showing above 900). Per the Community pages this is the download speed from the modem to the router. Modem is Arris Surfboard S33 Docsis 3.1.
The highest Wifi speeds we get on any device in our house are very rarely in the 400 Mbps range; but typically they are in the 240-330 Mbps download range. This ranges from older HP laptops (but still Windows 10) and Galaxy S10 to new iPhones and Mac. If I hardwire laptop and desktops the speed only improves about 10 Mbps: right now I’m at 290 Mbps hardwired on an HP E7470.
Why such a drop through the RBR 750? Everyone I talk to says I should be getting 700 to 850 Mbps downloads hardwired, and 600 to 650 Wifi. I have never seen that on any of our devices.

Re: orbi ax4200 753S
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What are you wired speed results with a wired PC connected directly to the back of the ISP modem?
Do you have Armor enabled on the Orbi RBR?

Re: orbi ax4200 753S
I've responded to your question 4 times now and when I then go back to look my responses do not show up. I sent you a private message on the 29th but have not seen that either that I did send it. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but hope this message gets to you. My response to your question was:
Firmware Version is V3.2.16.22_1.4.9
Wired connected speed to back of modem is 940.11 download; 36.69 upload; 7 ping.
Wired connected speed to router is 939.30; 36.85; 6.
Wifi speed to router is 341.17; 36.40; 7. Device is 15 feet away from router.
Wired connected speed to one of satellites is 170.84 ; 36.78; 8 . Satellite is 75 feet away from router; upstairs, in office.
Wifi speed to one of satellites is 229.09; 36.85; 17 . Device is 2 feet away from satellite.
Armor is disabled."

"Wired connected speed to one of satellites is 170.84 ; 36.78; 8 . Satellite is 75 feet away from router; upstairs, in office." Can you move the RBS closer to the RBR? Say 55-60feet?

I gave that a try and no noticeable change. Still within the same ranges.

Re: orbi ax4200 753S
Is Armor enabled on the RBR?
Try a factory reset on the RBR and walk the setup wizrard. Don't enable Armor. Power cycle the ISP Modem OFF for 30 seconds then back ON. WIth out doing any other changes on the RBR and nothing else connected accept for 1 wired PC, run a speed test using Ooklas installable speed test app.

Re: orbi ax4200 753S
I did the factory resets, and did a speed test directly hardwired off the RBR750, with Wifi turned off from the device, and the 2 RBSs turned off/disconnected. The speeds on the hardwire increased dramatically: on my wife's Mac we got 886.93 Mbps download, 36.63 upload. So that was quite an improvement. However, when using Wifi, about 25' away from the router (and RBSs connected/powered on), the download fell to 361.72 Mbps, while upload increased what I would consider to be an insignificant amount to 36.79.

Re: orbi ax4200 753S
That would be probably be a good speed result for wifi at that distance. Distance will impact wifi performance. Wireless speeds will never be as good as wired, especially at a distance. Device antenna design will be a factor as well. 2x2 systems will be the slowest. 4x4 or higher should have best results. Most Macs are 2x2. Even my iphone 12 max is 2x2. I presume it's hard to fit much more in to such a small case design.

Great, thanks for the support. Not sure how to mark this as "resolved" but I'm good to go with this.
