Sorry by extender I meant satellite. A router does not send out a Wi-Fi signal ? How do I connect to my router wirelessly
Orbi routers and satellites broadcast exactly the same WiFi name (SSID) on both 2.4G and 5G WiFi channels.
WiFi devices include networking software which examines the signal from every available access point (router, satellites, neighbors), ranks them somehow, and chooses one to connect with. When it already "knows" the WiFi password and is set to "connect automatically", it just does it.
Does the Roku not perform correctly?

Re: Connected Device change from extender to router
When the Roku device goes through the network setup, it choose the most desirable WiFi connection. The router and satellite have no control over which access point the Roku chooses.

If I disconnected the extender completely left the router on and ran the roku set up would it then connect to it?
Extender can have multiple meanings.
- If the Roku connected to an Orbi satellite, then I doubt anything would change.
- If the Roku is connected to a "WiFi Extender" (not to a satellite), then it might.
