Install Orbi via VPN Router

Question

I live in an apartment and have a modem. Plugged into that modem I have a VPN router, I live in China. I wanted to hook the Orbi to the end of that. I currently have a Tenda Nova (cheapo version of an Orbi and it works fine. Obbi doesnt get a signal. Do I need to scrap the VPN router and hook directley into the Modem. If I do can I put a VPN on the Orbi?

Yes the Orbi has it's own router so if you have another already in front, then could be a problem.&nbsp;Hope the Modem is a modem only. Some Orbis have there own VPN services. If you don't use it, I presume you can use exernal VPN routers behind the Orbi router. I would use the DMZ on the orbi router to help avoid connection issues with the VPN configuration. Having two routers on the same line causes a double NAT condition. DMZ can help here.

Did you try using AP mode with the Orbi router behind the VPN router?

Whats the IP address pool that the VPN uses? 192.168.1.#?

No I havent tried AP mode but will. Can I still get in and configure the Orbi even though it isnt technically on the network?

Yes you can walk the set up wizard and skip any set up steps for the internet with a Ethernet cable connected PC.&nbsp;
