New Firmware for RBR50v2, but Low Armor Security Score on Home Network!
I have an Orbi RBR50v2 with three satellites. Since I purchased the system in 2019, I have not had many problems. I'll eventually update the firmware of the mesh network for my home. I'm happy I noticed a 2.7.5.6 update on the mobile app today! I currently have firmware version 2.7.5.4 installed. Instead of updating via the mobile app, I plan to manually update the base and satellites individually, as I've done in previous years. Manual firmware updates are considered a best practice.
My concern is the current network security score on the mobile app. My home network percentile is 53/Critical! Several years ago, I noticed that the percentage was much higher. Does anyone find these low percentages on their home network? Must I install NETGEAR Armor onto other connected home devices for a higher network security score?

Re: New Firmware for RBR50v2, but Low Armor Security Score on Home Network!
The scoring is pretty dumb. Yes, it takes off points for "not having armor" on devices it could be installed on. It also takes points off if you even shut off armor. I'm testing armor right now and my score dropped from 90 to 53 just by shutting it off for a day for a test. Then it came back up to 73 but stayed low because it had been shut off. Usually there's an area to click that shows why its low. I wouldn't worry about it to much as the pointing system has some magic formula it uses they don't tell us about.

The scoring is a marketing ploy to encourage users to purchase Armor software for every device on my network. As you did, I could shut down Armor to see if the percentages change.
Which model of Orbi do you have? I'm considering upgrading to later models, but Netgear is damn proud of its mesh network products! Considering the price points, I may look at other manufacturers.
One last question. At one time Netgear posted firmware updates for my Orbi system: Download Center | Downloads and Documentation | NETGEAR But what's interesting is the mobile app shows an update to version 2.7.5.6? Does Netgear expect me to update via the mobile app?

The newer firmware was just released recently. Usually, it's a phased rollout. It's just security updates. I'm not a fan of the app update, but I've heard it's gotten better. I'd either do it manually or through the browser.
What speeds do you pay for and get from your ISP?
I see a lot of people who "need" to upgrade but have fairly slow service and won't see a whole lot of benefit.
Versus those with 1 gig plans, should upgrade.
I'm a fan of renewed devices. There have been quite a few on the old Jeff Bezos site for mesh systems.

Re: New Firmware for RBR50v2, but Low Armor Security Score on Home Network!
A bit jealous of the speeds and what you pay for it. Mines a bit more expensive.
Does it do what you need?
While you would see a little performance improvement, its unsure how much you'd actually get.
Reason I say that is most users just use it for streaming/gaming/surfing. The average user isn't going to notice jump from 300mbps to 1gig service becuse their devices don't need the bandwidth. For example, streaming 4k only needs 25-40mbps.

I'm always hesitant to upgrade if something is meeting its goals and it isn't causing issues.
With how fast you see wifi systems drop in price, unless you need the extra speed, its not hurting anything to wait on more mature firmware and prices to drop to more reasonable levels.
