ORBI CBR40 Cable Modem Router - upgrade to DOCSIS 3.1
Hello,
Spectrum is requiring cable modems that support DOCSIS 3.1. According to the CBR40 documentation, it supports DOCSIS 3.0. Can this device be upgraded to support DOCSIS 3.1??
Thanks,
Judy

No. It's a HW difference between 3.0 and 3.1.

Thanks for your speedy response.
A different/related question: Can we disable the cable modem function on our ORBI CBR40 and use the Spectrum cable modem... while still using the ORBI router/wifi mesh?

No however you can configure the CBR for a faux AP mode, configure the LAN IP address on the CBR (192.168.#.40 would be recommended) for whats used on the upstream router, turn OFF the DHCP service on the CBR, connect a LAN Port on the CBR to the LAN port on the upstream router. And use the CBR and RBS as a wireless mesh system. Only item is that you get a blinking downlink LED on the front of the CBR. You can put a small sticky note over the LEDs on the CBR to cover this.
