Orbi RBR 50 Verizon FIOS
I purchased Orbi RBR50 with a single satellite RBS50 directly from verzion back in 2018. I was not aware at the time that Verizon has it's own proprietery firmware V2.1.4.16_1.0.0.11 on these devices. The firmware can't be upgraded and the biggest problem i have is that i want to create more coverage in my home. I purchased a satellite from Netgear and it was during this time that i discovered that the new unit would not pair up with the router. I was able to return for a full refund.
I am happy with the Orbi . I think its a great product. I dont want to spend several hundred dollars on a brand new system.
I didnt try to get support from Verizon yet. Searching the internet , it seems people that have a similar situation were not able to get it resolved. I would be content buying compatible satellites that have the same firmware but am unable to locate them anywhere.
I dont want to blame netgear for this but i have to quesiton why they would allow another vendor to write their own code that basically locks the end user out of upgrading. It should be on netgear to provide a solution.

Even though the hardware came from NG, It's Verizons FW that they develop and install on the NG hardward. So Verizon needs to be contacted to see about FW issues regarding there FW. NG doesn't handle this after Verizon puts there FW on Orbi systems.
The main issue is that for Orbi RBS to work right, the FW has to be using same version of FW on the RBS thats on the RBR. Otherwise the RBS won't sync correctly. You might ask them about installing Verizon FW on a NG RBS if they support that.
I presume native stock NG RBS any model will not sync to Verizon FW based Orbi. You can try EX7500/7700 or 8000 extenders and see if these will connect though may work, won't work as same as RBS do.

Any progress on this?

Thank you for your reply but Verizon was of no help. I lost the fight t in me after 90 minutes of getting switched around and still not being able convey my message. I gave up when the last person i was on with wanted to sell me a new plan cause he thought i wanted to upgrade my wifi. It was cost effective for me to purchase new mesh system from netgear.
