Orbi, which one to go for, how does it works and what else do I need

I was reccommended by a colleague the Orbi system of Netgear. To be honest Im not that techni in this subject. I cant change my current provider and im only getting 40ish mbps. I have areas in my house (3 story home) that get bad reception and the most important room (my office) is one of them, I get dropped out of meetings because internet issues.

How does the Orbi works? Which one will you recommended? Do I need to remove my current router? Do i need a new one?

Can you please help me here with this issue?

Thanks

I would start here:

https://www.netgear.com/orbi/default.aspx
https://www.netgear.com/orbi/wifi-systems.aspx
https://kb.netgear.com/000038220/What-are-the-hardware-specifications-of-the-available-Orbi-WiFi-Sys...

30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router

Does your ISP modem already have a built in router and wifi?

Thanks for the links above i have been doing my research and read all those links you sent. Very much appreciated
To answer your question yes I have my router from my ISP set as router and wifi.
One question been reading several posts and you seem to have loads of experience with Orbi, will orbi improve the speed i get??? Or is just about the reliability of the connection in every single corner of my house?

What speeds do you pay for UP and Down from your ISP. Orbi will only work with the allowed speed package that you pay for from your ISP. Otherwise Orbi will be able to help all of your devices connect to get internet services and have good performance with the internet services.

Some modems come with built in wifi and router with in the modem. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Since you pay for 40Mbps, you will never get fater than that for Internet. However what Orbi will give you is a wide coverage of that speed, as well as LAN speeds between devices and PCs will be fast. You will be able to get WIFI coverage throughout your home, providing you palce the satellites poroperly in your home.
