RBR50 slow speeds

hi there I have just upgraded to a 1GBps fibre broadband. When I connect directly to my broadband provdier's router wifi I can get about 580MBps download. But when I connect via the Orbi RBR50 (which is connected via ethernet to the router) the speed is less than 100MBps.    
distances between supplier router and orbi are less than 1m and distance between both wifi suppliers and device is the same.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like you are using a cat 5 Ethernet cable to connect your Orbi, switch to a cat 5e or 6. Test wired speeds from Orbi and then wireless.

2 things. 

If the isp supplied device has wifi, it causes a double nat. 

A double nat happens when you cascade more than 1 router.

Fixes? There’s 3 options but only use 1.
1. Put the modem/gateway in modem only/pass through mode. This disables its routing functions.
2. Leave the modem/gateway in router mode but put the Netgears IP address into its DMZ. This forwards the data to the netgear. You can either leave the modem/gateway’s wireless enabled or disabled. Just make sure its using a different wifi channel to prevent interference
3. Put the Netgear into access point mode. This disables its routing functions. Wifi/ethernet still works but it does disable some features.

Its also worth noting that sometimes changing speeds is helped by a factory reset and reinstall. Have you tried that.

Electronics built into Ethernet adapters perform auto-negotiation when they detect that they are connected to another device:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autonegotiation  There is nothing the user can do to affect this function.  A speed just slightly less than 100Mbps is characteristic of a 100M/Full connection.  (There is some overhead in Ethernet.  Not nearly as much as in WiFi, but there is still some.)  This could be caused by any number of things, including the actual cable and the plugs that have been crimped on each end.

One tipoff is to open the router web interface (http://orbilogin.net ) and navigate to the Advanced Tab.  Click the blue box "Show Statistics" in the top right box. Here's what my RBR50 looks like:

If your WAN port reports 100M/Full, then it's time to change the cable for sure.

I am having the same issue and did what you suggested and my STATISTICS look exactly like yours but when I run speed tests from several different sites I get speeds around 36mbps. When I connect directly into my modem I get the full 800mbps I am paying for. So that tells me it's not the PC's hardware or LAN cable.

I read previous posts of support that suggested it was the cable between the router and the wifi.  I had a cat 5e cable and upgraded it to cat 6 - the problem has been resolved so you might wish to check that.

Thanks for this.  I was using a cat 5e and the speeds were poor (ie less than 100.  But upgraded to cat 6 and the speeds are now comparable to the hyperoptic router.
