Satellite disconnecting from RBR50

I have an RBR50 with one satellite.  Over the past few days the satellite has been disconnecting, showing magenta when close to the router, and also showing "good" in the webui.  However, when a device connects to the satellite it will not pull an IP from the Router.  I've tried moving and rebooting the satellite with intermittent results but it failed again this morning.  Has anyone seen something similar or have a way to resolve it?

What Firmware is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?
Is the Orbi system operating in Router or AP mode?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between them to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

 

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

 

Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or maynot be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Try disabling the following and see:
Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).

"Good" backhual in the GUI with magenta light is a bad combination.  Typically, the magenta light should last for about 1-2 mins after blue light, which indicates that the Satellite is in the middle of acquiring IP information from the Orbi.  If you have more than 1 Satellite, can you swap their places?  Otherwise, move it to the same room as Orbi.

 

Before swapping/moving, please runs these 3 commands on bad Satellite:

  • config default
  • config commit
  • reboot

If the Satellite is still dead after swapping/moving, then try this solution.  If it's still dead afterward, you might be looking at dying hardware.   RMA is best friend in that case.
