Satellite issue
I got a refurbished RBR40 converted to a RBS40 satellite and cat5e cable to go with my RBR40 router for house to backyard shop project.
I can get the satellite connected to the router--> my app shows the satellite and router with a green dot.
However, the satellite doesn't seem to be WiFi'ing . My phone, computer or TV don't detect it.
What setting am I missing to make this work?

Hello fatsister,
Welcome to the NETGEAR Community!
I understand that you are having difficulties adding an additional satellite to your Orbi Mesh system.
Please navigate to the link below for step-by-step instructions on adding your RBS40 to your Orbi Mesh system :

Re: Satellite issue
The Orbi 'app' does not provide access to much information about the system.
Perhaps this would be a good time to explore the Orbi web browser interface (http://orbilogin.net )
See page 12 of the user manual: https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/RBK50/Orbi_UM_EN.pdf
Does the Attached Devices menu show the RB?40 connected as a satellite?

Re: Satellite issue
so I kind of go back to the "i converted an RBR40 to an RBS40". (not really a supported option)
Which requires forcing a firmware it isn't designed to take and then don't know why the wireless on it isn't working.
If you convert it back to an RBR40, does it work? If so, stick that one in the garage hardwired in and run it in AP mode.

Re: Satellite issue
Honestly, I bought this not realizing it was a converted satellite. I do not know how to convert it back.
I am thinking I will return it and try and find a legitimate satellite that will work with my RBR40.
Thanks for responding.

Re: Satellite issue
If you can return it, I sure would. Sounds like a sketchy situation for someone to sell you a converted device that isn't working.
Take a look on amazon. They had renewed rbk43 kits for pretty darned cheap. That'd get you a backup router plus 2x satellites to use. Its nice to have a backup router when you have a bunch of money tied up in satellites.

Re: Satellite issue
Hope it works great!
I've had friends/family use those kits and they've worked great so far.
