orbi satellite
Can I run a cat-5 cable into my satellite for the connection instead of using a wireless connection to the base transmitter ? Thinking that it would be a more solid connection How would I go about doing that as the ethernet runs from the base to a switch in the basement and then back to the satellite unit Any suggestions Thanks in advance JB

Re: orbi satellite
Yes, people do this all the time. Depending on when the house was wired with Ethernet, there may be concerns about the physical cable installation and the cable terminations. Cat5 cable (i.e. pre 2000) is not rated for gigabit Ethernet. Cat5e and Cat6 cable are rated for higher speeds. If the cable is good, the total length of any one segment can be up to 90 meters. i.e. router to switch, and then switch to satellite = two separate lengths which cannot exceed 90 meters each.
