For that size of home, the RBR and just one RBS is needed. Placed out at 30 feet or a bit more from the RBR.

Can you turn OFF 1 RBS for now?

What channels are you using on the RBR?

More information would be helpful, such as:

  • What device (or devices) have low performance in that specific location?
  • What is "low"?
  • Does the device itself display advanced information about the WiFi connection?
(such as the "Link Rate" and which frequency band?)
  • What Link Rate does the Orbi 'app' display for these devices when in that location?
  • Is there anything unusual about that location?  (stone walls? lots of large metallic objects?
  • Are there other devices which show normal speed in that location?
  • Do the affected devices perform normally when in other locations?

Re: My ORBI 970 HAVING DEAD SPOTS

I surely answered these questions in the statement above.. Now for which channel each device is using I have no clue the router is in the room below as its a upstairs building and there is another one in the room beside this is wall building fully walled...But what I wanna know is why would it show almost full signal and not getting the speed. Ive used a laptop and a phone so multiple devices as mentioned before.

Remote locations may or may not always see full speed. Building materials, placement and distances and deployment of too many RBS will all impact what is seen in remote locations.

Re: My ORBI 970 HAVING DEAD SPOTS

What do you consider slow speeds?

What actual speeds does it get? Is it all the time?

Is it in the same spots?

When its slow, check your device to see if its on the 2.4ghz, 5ghz, or 6ghz. The device allows bandsteering and the 2.4ghz is a slow band. So if you're device happens to be on 2.4ghz when you're testing, it will be slow. But if its on the 5/6ghz, then its worth investigating more.

Re: My ORBI 970 HAVING DEAD SPOTS

@FURRYe38 No it's not this because the room beside the router the speeds are like 400mbps, the bathroom in that same room is the issue I get like 6mbps. @plemans yes its all the time, And its on the 5ghz.

And funny enough I've never seen something on the 6ghz band my router only shows 2.4ghz and 5ghz am I suppose to be seeing 6ghz based on the fact I even have a wifi 7 phone and a Mac book capable of 6ghz ? They only connect to 5ghz

Re: My ORBI 970 HAVING DEAD SPOTS

If you have any 6Ghz supporting devices, they should connect to the 6Ghz signal first thing when near the RBR or RBS.

Might turn OFF the RBS for temporarily and test each device while near the RBR. Check the RBRs web page for connection status.

Re: My ORBI 970 HAVING DEAD SPOTS

Well they are surely not connecting or is it that the 6ghz needs to be turn on is there an option or is it automatic ?

Re: My ORBI 970 HAVING DEAD SPOTS

6ghz is hidden in the UI and all automatic.

Something to test as a quick test. Set WPA3 only security on the main WLAN and see if your 6Ghz phone connect at 6Ghz. Change back to mixed mode after testing. WPA3 is required for 6Ghz radios.
