Re: ORBI WIFI INTERNAL SPEED TEST
Probably would help to research "What speed should I expect from my WiFi?"
The relevant information is (a) the specific Orbi model capabilities, and (b) the specific WiFi device capabilities.
The original WiFi5 Orbi units are capable of less WiFi speed than the newer WiFi6 products (the AX models).
All Orbi routers have 2x2 MIMO (two antennas). Theoretical rates for 4x4 systems are not relevant.
In simple terms:
- A computer connected to one of the router gigabit LAN ports can achieve roughly the same speed that the Orbi router is reporting, just slightly under 1 gigabit. (There is some overhead even in full duplex Ethernet connections.)
- A WiFi device will get substantially less and this depends entirely on the capability of the WiFi device.
- A WiFi5 device (802.11ac) will be doing really well to measure 400-500mbps.
- A WiFi6 device (802.11ax) might reach 600-700mbps when very close to the WiFi access point.

Re: ORBI WIFI INTERNAL SPEED TEST
I don't think this is 100% accurate at all. I have the orbi 970 I had 250mb service at start my wifi use to show me the entire 250 plus more, I upgraded to gb service and im seeing 400 to 500mb on wifi. I have seen other person getting almost the full 1gb speed on wifi, im right next to the router and still gets like 400-500 that's crazy.

Re: ORBI WIFI INTERNAL SPEED TEST
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.
Which internal speed test are you running, the RBRs web page? Orbi app?
What wireless device are you using?
What do you see when using a wired PC and Ooklas installable speed test app while connected to the back of the RBR?

Re: ORBI WIFI INTERNAL SPEED TEST
I don't think none of this matter based on the fact I just told you we had 250mb before getting speeds of 270-300
upgraded to 1gb and now getting speeds on the orbi speed test of 950mb but on the regular ookla online its 500-600
im using 6a cable I have 3 units house is not too big, system states all satellites are good.

Re: ORBI WIFI INTERNAL SPEED TEST
It would be very helpful to know the specific model of Orbi and the specific WiFi device that is running the speed test.

What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

FYI not all wifi devices may get to spec speeds. Depending on there design and support and MIMO capabilities, they may not see anything near 900Mpbs or 1Gb. Most 2x2 devices top out at around anywhere from 500 to 700Mpbs. Depending. Most I ever see on my iPhone 12 pro max is around 700. Mac Book Pro 2018 sees around the same or a bit lower. My android pad gets around 800 range. My Mac Mini 2012 being older generation, only sees around 300-500.

Re: ORBI WIFI INTERNAL SPEED TEST
Im using the latest Mac mini, im also using the latest iPhone 15 pro max they should be able to give the speeds. So at nights I seem o get the correct speeds but in the day the speeds drops this might be a network issue.

Re: ORBI WIFI INTERNAL SPEED TEST
Yep tried it this morning same thing, also had a Orbi tech trouble shoot an entire day trying to see what the issue could be they couldn't fix it either so I don't know im going to reach out to the service provider and see, But based on the fact we getting the correct speed wireless I don't think they will accept that its an issue from them I wouldn't either.

Re: ORBI WIFI INTERNAL SPEED TEST
You'll need to test with the ISP and there hardware, wired and wireless. Test over same time frame.
If you see same issues there with out the Orbi being online, then would be maybe an ISP issue.
Also test with external speed test app like Ookla with a wired and wireless PC.
