Re: New Orbi RBR50/RBS50 Firmware Version 2.3.1.48
at this moment, I'm not allowed by family to diconnect the running wirless from the FMG, so i just plugged the orbi into one of the ports in the FMG. But nomally when the Orbi runs smoothly, it is solid bridged.
Distance when connectin now is about 30 feet, as the router is on the other side of the living room of to the PC.
When in full bridge mode - what setting of the RBR is correct? Router mode or the other?
I am now manually forcing v44 on the satelites, and keeping that on the router (i dont need japanese)

Re: New Orbi RBR50/RBS50 Firmware Version 2.3.1.48
Ok. so normally when you have Orbi running, you have the modems WIFI disabled when not bridged? This needs to be disabled on the modem if you have the Orbi running.
Yes when modem is fully bridged and wifi disabled, Router mode should be selected on the RBR.
Possible if the satellites were behind on FW then his maybe the reason they were not conneting. RBS have to be updated first before the RBR and be on the same version of FW or RBS can be on a more current version while the RBR can be on a older version of FW. RBS can't be behind in FW versions from the RBR.

Re: New Orbi RBR50/RBS50 Firmware Version 2.3.1.48
Ok, that gives us conformation of the configuration. Thank you.
So after getting the RBS updated to v44. Factory reset just 1 of them. Turn OFF the others. When you see the top led pulsating WHITE on the RBS, Press the sync button on the RBR then press sync button on the 1 RBS while in the same room as the RBR. Give up to 5 minutes and you should see the top led on the RBS turn BLUE...Lets see if we can get to this point.

So, when trying to connect the second orbi, it "connected" but in status it said "config sys", ring turns amber, and log says

Did you factory reset the RBS then try to re-sync?

Re: New Orbi RBR50/RBS50 Firmware Version 2.3.1.48
Try a reboot on the RBR. Power OFF the RBS then back on then press the sync buttons. IF this fails on the 2nd RBS, move on to the next RBS.
Might try the generate new PW for RBS process as well...
Someone else with this similar issue not to long ago...
How complex is the admin and Wifi PW on the RBR?

Wifipassword is the standard that comes along with the RBR20.
Admin PW is as follows Ipconfig12345 (only using different letters)

Re: New Orbi RBR50/RBS50 Firmware Version 2.3.1.48
Ok, lets change the PW for the wifi SSID name on the RBR save and reboot. Lets make that something different. I know it shouldn't matter however maybe something is happening here. I always change the WIFI pw to something different other than the default one. You may need to re-sync the 1st one...worry about this later.
When you get a RBS connected fully, yes do a address reservation on the RBR under Advanced tab/Setup/LAN Setup, save and apply. Then add the next one.

Re: New Orbi RBR50/RBS50 Firmware Version 2.3.1.48
keeping the original SSID AND password from the RBR is actually the main difference i have made this time. Thougt i get them all up and running, than change the SSID to a new one I havent used before. Same with the passwords.

Re: New Orbi RBR50/RBS50 Firmware Version 2.3.1.48
So far, for every RBS connected, I have factory reset the RBS twice, it connects (finnaly) turns blue, sometimes amber, and i see now i have used the wrong colorscheme here all the time. Prior to this post, everytime i have typed Amber, I have meant the color Magenta. (Is it ANY excuse that I am norwegian?)
Typically, it flashes white, then turns magenta, I then hit sync (again) after "setup failed" message appears, and try again. With or without factory reset. Suddenly i turns blue, stays for a little while, turns back to magenta, stays like that for a few minutes, before turning blue again.
I wish there was a logfile describing what processes it tries to do, and where it fails.

Re: New Orbi RBR50/RBS50 Firmware Version 2.3.1.48
I have seen it where it turns blue the back to magenta then blue again.
So you now have every RBS connected and at BLUE?
Set up IP address reservations for each of them. This will help keep them connected and from IP address conflicts.

I would turn them on one at a time, get BLUE before turning on the next one.

Re: New Orbi RBR50/RBS50 Firmware Version 2.3.1.48
They have all turned blbue now, I moved them to their loactions, and turned them back on, and all synced up. I tried to allocate the channels, set channel 13 for 2,4ghz and channel 48 for 5g, as those are clear from traffic from neighbours.
Next now is new SSID and new password.
