Orbi RBR50v2 weak connections

Dear community,

I have an RBR50v2 router (wired to my internet service provider modem) and a satellite based upstairs.

i still seem to have very weak connections across the house even though if i run a simple speed test it invariably tells me its running at 60mbps.

It seems that devices like laptops and phones dont switch from the router to the satellite, and connectios to the satellite are terribly unreliable.  I can be sat next to the satellite and the device is trying to maintain a very weak connection to the router.  I cant find a way to actually test the satellites connecitvity strength beyond the unit itself not showing any error lights etc.

I havent changed any settings beyond renaming the wifi network and i can see that all my devices are connected - its just the general reliability and strength of the system around the house seems very poor.  The firmware on both units is up to date.

Any starting tips and pointers would be great.

Re: Orbi RBR50v2 weak connections

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or may not be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Circle, Traffic Meter, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Set CTS to 2347. Set Short preamble instead of Long preamble modes. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s). Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings
