RBR 50 and RBS50

After an automatic firmware update to
2.3.5.30
The backhsul status I noticed is poor.
That’s from the website but on the app the green has changed to orange on the satellite.
They have both been green since installation. . Any suggestions please to correct this issue.
Both have been restarted but not touched sync or reboot.
Thanks
Brian

Re: RBR 50 and RBS50

Connecting to the rbr50 via Ethernet on a laptop. Then on the netgear website rebooting the router. Firstly disconnected the satellite then connected it with good backhaul and a green on the app.
Thanks for all the inputs.
I am not a tech type. Pity no support From Netgear due to its age.
Unlike Apple and Sonos who always help.
Thanks again.

Re: RBR 50 and RBS50

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? I would try this and see if symptoms still appear.

Re: RBR 50 and RBS50

Thanks for the message.
They are 2018 so out of help from Netgear.
They helped in 2019 to update as the app only updates to a certain backwards level.
So we connected to the RBR50 direct not via Wi-fi and updated.
The app says both are up to date.
The last update was done via the app.
Only the other day I looked at the configuration and the RBS was orange abd I confirmed this via the web site on the RBR
They are working but the backhaul
Is low. No colour led exits on the tops.
They have been working since 2018 no issues.
They are less than 30 feet apart.
Thanks again for the message.

Re: RBR 50 and RBS50

If less than 30 feet, this maybe too close between RBR and RBS.  30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or maynot be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Circle, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).

I'm wondering if 2.3.5.30 is auto-update, why ALL haven't received it?

latest perhaps...but auto update normally means NG pushes the FW without the user having to do anything.  My system (which is working fine) hasn't been updated in close to a year and I have the FW from that time frame of nearly a year ago.  When I login into my router, (via PC) I see a message that says there is a more current FW available.  Available does NOT mean I have to update.  When there are major updates, NG will push it out.

Re: RBR 50 and RBS50

The orbi app or thru the RBRs UI? RBRs Ui is more accurate then the Orbi app. Of course, the best place to check is NGs web site download page. NG no longer pushes any FW updates to Orbi sytems. They will notifiy you though thru the RBRs web page if FW is available and it's your choice to do so or not.

Re: RBR 50 and RBS50

Let us know if any of the suggestions help.

You can always revert back to last working version of FW if you want too.

Good Luck.

That's NOT what I heard......from May of this year (2019):

Auto updates are still pushed to Orbi units. Small revisions of firmware updates such as 2.3.1.44 to 2.3.1.48 will trigger notifications of a firmware update. Whereas, major revisions such as 2.2.1.210 to 2.3.1.44 will be auto updated.    Regards, Christian

Hi Christian

Is the NG FW policy still the same as you stated above?
