No web UI on GS105E

No web UI on GS105E

I dug an old ProSAFE Plus GS105E managed switch out of the cupboard, many years since I last used it but as far as I remember it was working fine. It's working as a simple switch but I can't access its web UI. It's picking up configuration from my DHCP server and I can ping it by the assigned IP address but when I point a browser at that address I get a blank page. Trying curl I get:

curl: (1) Received HTTP/0.9 when not allowed

Adding a few options in search of more informaiton I get:

$ curl -I --verbose  --http0.9 192.168.1.140
*   Trying 192.168.1.140:80...
* Connected to 192.168.1.140 (192.168.1.140) port 80 (#0)
> HEAD / HTTP/1.1
> Host: 192.168.1.140
> User-Agent: curl/7.81.0
> Accept: */*
>
* Closing connection 0
curl: (8) Weird server reply

I installed and ran the ProSAFE configuration utility (in a Windows7 VM - everything else is Linux here) which detects the switch. I used it to install the latest firmware I could find (1.02.04) but that doesn't seem to have made any difference.

At this point I'm out of ideas and out of my depth. Any suggestions?

Re: No web UI on GS105E

The Web GUI management support was added to the GS105Ev2 with the Firmware Version starting from 1.3.0.1 in early June 2014. The older GS105E (v1) firmware V1.02.02 dates from early February 2013.

Re: No web UI on GS105E

is the host or something in the data path limiting the MTU below the default 1500?

For my part, I'm not convinced these early GS105E (the last firmware dates from early 2013) variants had a Web UI - the dependency on the NSDP protocol and the Plus Utility remained much longer.

My networking knowledge is limited but the host (a Linux desktop machine) reports mtu 1500. I had tried connecting the GS105E directly to the host (between host and rest of LAN) so presumably there was nothing that could have restricted such things.

Well, that would certainly explain it! It's a pain to have to fire up Windows so I'll probably need to replace it if that's the case - can anyone confirm for sure?

Fair enough - thanks for confirming.

Re: No web UI on GS105E

For completeness: The GS108E got a Web UI with the initial release of the GS108Ev3 firmware built in May 2014

Web UI support was added as a new feature with.
