GS105PE - Non-PoE device on PoE port?
Hi,
I have a PoE device connected and powered by pass through (PoE PSE) on Port 1 of the GS105PE.
Is it possible to connect a non-PoE device (PoE PSE) to Port 2 without risking damage the non-PoE device? In other words, does the GS105PE detect when a non-PoE device is connected to one of the pass through ports and therefore does not supply any voltage to it, or is a pass through voltage present to both ports all the time?
The non pass through Ports (3 & 4) are already being used.

You have posted your message in the section of this community given over to General WiFi Routers (Non-Nighthawk). (This is easily done, given Netgear's impenetrable community structure.)
You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers about your hardware, in the appropriate section for your device. That's probably here:
Smart / Plus / Click Switches - NETGEAR Communities
I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.- GadgetBenAspirant
Thanks :)

Absolutely - in an IEEE standard PoE world (802.3af aka. 802.3at Type 1) "PoE", 802.3at Type 2 "PoE+", 802.3bt Type 3 "4PPoE"/"PoE++", and 802.3bt Type 4 "4PPoE"/"PoE++" there is no power supplied unless negotiated between the IEEE standards compliant devices.
You get what you pay for - this isn't the el-cheepo dumb passive power thing which is still promoted as "PoE" 8-) This is where the risk is.
