GS605 switch is not giving one of my computers Internet access

Hello,

I've had this switch for a few years now and it has been working perfectly. Last week I received a new computer, and the switch is not allowing that computer to connect to the Internet. I've tried multiple ports on the switch. I've tried swapping the ethernet cables. Another computer on the same switch does get Internet. I plugged my new computer directly into my router and it gets Internet when I do that, so all that's left is this switch.

My current network goes Modem > Router > Switch > computer. Any help would be appreciated.

@neast5006,

Welcome to the community! 🙂

On this setup: modem==router==GS605==newPC, are you getting a valid IP address from the router?  If yes, kindly try to check if you will get replies if you ping the IP address of the router.  Then if you are getting replies from the router, check if you will get replies if you ping a website such as google.com.

If ever you are not getting a valid IP address from the router, try to set a static IP address to your new PC that is within the IP address range of your router.  Then, check if you will get replies if you ping the IP address of the router.  Then if you are getting replies from the router, check if you will get replies if you ping a website such as google.com.

Kindly observe the behavior of the port LED lights as well.

Re: GS605 switch is not giving one of my computers Internet access

@DaneA

Yes, I'm getting a valid IP address from my router. The router's IP is 192.168.1.1 and it giving my PC the IP of 192.168.1.114. However I cannot ping the router. I tried setting a static IP but it made no difference.

I should note that if I bypass the GS605 switch and plug my computer directly into the router, then the Internet works.

I have 4 devices plugged into the switch, one being the new PC. The LED lights for all 4 are green and blinking in rhythm with each other.

Thanks,

@neast5006,

That is kind of strange.  Kindly try to disable then re-enable the LAN card (NIC) of your new computer then check if it will be able to go online while its connected to the GS605 switch.
