MS305 MS308 and Orbi 770 Odd Behavior
Hello,
I have an Orbi 770 2 pack running on wired backhaul. The router connects to an MS305 connecting to the satellite as well as other network ports in the house. This has been stable and has run well for a couple of months.
I recently started to upgrade some of my old gigabit switches to 2.5 gigabit, so I bought an MS308 and MS305 to start. The MS308 is plugged into a port on the router and the MS305 is plugged into the satellite.
The 308 causes the wireless radios in the router to stop working daily. A reboot fixes it for about a day, then the radios stop again. I swapped the gigabit switch back in and the problems stopped.
The 305 is also causing the same behavior in the satellite, though less frequently.
I’ve tried factory resetting the Orbi units with no success. It’s clearly related to the switches, but I think it’s pretty unlikely that it’s the switches themselves at this point and possibly a firmware bug of some sort, but that doesn’t explain why things work fine with only one MS305.
Has anyone run into something like this?
Thanks for any ideas.

Are you daisy chaining the MS switches behind the RBR?
So the MS305 worked ok with the RBS connected to it, but the MS308 is causing this problem?
Tried using the MS308 in place of the MS305?
What CAT# LAN cable are you using? CAT6A STP is recommended.
- DK21StarI’m using CAT 6. The original MS105 is connected to a port on the router and a port on the satellite. The MS308 was connected to another port on the router. The MS105 was connected to another port on the satellite.
Cat 6a is overkill in a residential situation, particularly since the switches causing the problem are connected with 5ft patch cables.
