Best practise for ReadyOS 6 full system backup and recovery
Hey community,
since I could not find any obvious way how to to a full backup (and recovery of course) of my RN204 (configuration and data), I am reaching out to the community now.
Is there a canonical way or a best practise how to perform the above mentioned?
In my particular case I have some user specific shares, some Time Machine backups and some general shares that need to be backed up.
Later on I would like to use that backup to restore i.e. a new device or the current device after HDD change.
Cheers, tbob

You can't get 100% there on the recovery, since there are some settings that aren't saved in the configuration file. So on the recovery side you will need a procedure.
You might want to create a TimeMachine share, and replace /data/.timemachine with a symbolic link to the share. That should make it easier to backup/restore the timemachine folder.

Hi Tbob,
For all data backup,
You can backup your volume.
Example: Backup local path select /data (data is volume's name)

For configure backup,
Please backup and restore configure,
open NAS admin GUI, then go to System/Settings/Configuration Backup

I don't think that backs up hidden folders like .timemachine. Plus restoring that might not be as easy as backing it up. (For instance backing up all home folders is simple, but restoring them all is not so simple).

Yes, but that doesn't restore everything. For instance it doesn't restore volume maintenance schedules. Netgear has never provided a complete list of what is (and isn't) restored.
Thanks for the tips you nerds really rock!!!
