Can’t access Frontview GUI on ReadyNAS Duo v2 RND2110v2

My ReadyNAS is working OK, and I can access all the content stored on it (I use it as a server for a Logitech Squeezebox system, and for storing photos).
Recently I’ve found I can’t access the FrontView GUI to check status, manage shares, etc.
I just get an error message saying “can’t connect” or similar, when I try to visit
https://192.168.1.79/admin (I use a static IP address).
I’ve tried using Safari, Chrome and Firefox from my iPad Pro (OS 16.7.10) and my iPhone 14 Pro (IOS 18.2.1).
I’ve also tried from a Windows 7 desktop machine, using IE, Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and PaleMoon, but none of them work. I’ve tried tweaking TLS settings, but it made no difference. In all cases, though, I can view the stored content.
How can I overcome this ?

I assumed that too, but what could it be ? I removed Norton, and turned off Windows Firewall, but it still won’t work on any browser.

Does the error include "SSL Version error" or "Cipher Mismatch"?

Does the front panel
- say "ReadyNAS Duo"
- Or "ReadyNAS Duo v2"?
Please ignore any other labels, as they are misleading.

Re: Can’t access Frontview GUI on ReadyNAS Duo v2 RND2110v2
You have the original Duo, which we call a V1 here. Netgear really screwed up calling an entirely new product a "V2" when they had preciously used "v2" and "v3" to indicate minor hardware differences.
Your problem is undoubtedly because that NAS is limited to TLS V1.0, which is no longer supported by most browsers. If you are not getting an error message like @StephenB mentioned, then you may have something else also blocking it, such as your antivirus/firewall software.
What exactly does the error message say?

@stevehoskins - Please post a screenshot, ideally from Chrome or FireFox using the Windows PC.

Here’s a snapshot from Safari on my iPad. I’ll try to add a Windows/Firefox screenshot later.
I”d typed in “https://192.168.1.79/admin”

Can’t find a way of adding screenshots from Windows. Tried adding an actual photo of each, but one is too big (and I don’t know how to reduce its size.

Pressing prt sc (print screen) should take a screenshot of the entire screen. Or click on the window and then press alt+ ptr sc to take a screenshot of the window. Then open paint, and type Ctrl + V to paste the screenshot, and then save it as a png file.

Did you try rebooting the NAS?
If you have any internet security software or antivirus software running on the PC, then try disabling it and see if that makes any difference.

Re: Can’t access Frontview GUI on ReadyNAS Duo v2 RND2110v2
I removed Norton from my Windows 7 machine and tried again - same problem, on Firefox, Chrome, IE.
I then tried turning off the Windows Firewall too - that made no difference either 😩.

And you tried rebooting the NAS???
There are multiple issues you need to overcome. Once you get past the refused connection, you also have to deal with the SSL version/cipher mismatch. And there is also the usual issue with clicking through the certificate warning.
Since you do have access to the files, I think it would be prudent to back them up (copying them to other storage).

Re: Can’t access Frontview GUI on ReadyNAS Duo v2 RND2110v2
For the unit running Norton, see this: Something-is-blocking-OS4-2-and-5-1-admin-access-in-Windows-10 .
I can't help you with the problem with the Apple units. But that message indicates it's not the browser or NAS refusing to connect, something is blocking the traffic.

Do you get the same message if you use incognito mode with Chrome?
Maybe also see what browser extensions are installed.
