Cannot access Shares on windows network
Hi
I am new to this forum and apologise if this post is in the wrong section but it seems the closest to the problem I am encountering
I have a Ready NAs Duo that is connected to a windows network but can no longer be accessed from my PC . It can be seen as a storage device on the network but clicking on this just takes me to Frontview.
Clicking on the NAS name in My computer gives an error message ' Windows cannot access \\NAS-CE-8B-51. Check spelling of the name....'
Although Raidar will locate the device, clicking on 'browse' tab will give the same error message after about 2o secs i.e windows cannot access ...
I am running Win 7 Pro
Radiator 4.1.14
I can access my files after enabling HTTP protocol but this isn't ideal
In network settings I am using values from a DHCP server
I am on the same workgroup
CIFS enabled
AFP and NFS currently disabled although they have been enabled in the past allowing access from Mac
I have tried rebooting NAs
Disabling and enabling CIFS
I am not particularly tech savvy and would really appreciate any help/pointers to get my access back
Thanks

Re: Cannot access Shares on windows network
Sorry you mean typing \\IP address of router?
If so tried that but 'windows cannot find'
https://192.168.1.5 gets me to Frontview not files

Re: Cannot access Shares on windows network
No luck
windows file explorer displays the Ready Nas under Computer, Media Device and Storage
I cannot access any of them apart from going to Frontview
Tried \\IP address but no success

Re: Cannot access Shares on windows network
try performing an OS reinstall:
http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/24872
NOTE: This will bring IP back on DHCP mode and reset the admin password to default.

Ok Thanks I will try that
I backed up a couple of months ago- I'm assuming OS reinstall won't affect data?

Re: Cannot access Shares on windows network
Sorry again-wasn't thinking straight last night
It is a 2110v2
are the instructions for OS reinstall?
1. http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20852/related/1
or
2. http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/24874
They seem to differ
THanks

Re: Cannot access Shares on windows network
Raidiator 4.1.14 means this is a sparc platform (always called a "v1" here).
Can you confirm this firmware version?
If you are running 4.1.14, then the right procedure is found on page 15-16 here: http://www.readynas.com/download/docume ... 6Dec11.pdf
