Connecting USB Device makes NAS drop off network?

I had an issue yesterday when connecting my USB backup disk to the top back USB port so that the backup could run when it was time.

My wife was watching some vacation videos stored on the NAS and streamed to our Samsung TV via DLNA.

When i connected the USB disk the stream stopped and the TV reported that the device had been disconnected.

After a few minutes it was possible to start the streming again.

I am not sure but it seems to be that the connection of the USB device forced the NAS to drop the network connection for a second.

Anyone else ezperienced something like this.

Firmware is 6.4.2

    Hello lundmilo,

It is possible that the NAS did not really get disconnected from the network but the DLNA service just got interrupted. Did you get the same results when using other USB ports? Also, was the NAS' visibility on the network like being able to map it on computer get interrupted too?

    Regards,

I didn't try a nother USB port since I have a bacup job that runs every wednesday and sunday at 20:05. I just have to make sure the USB disc is connected before the backup runs.

It is not a big issue though. I just have to connect the USB disc at a time where noone is streaming over DLNA.

I didn't notice that the Mapped network drives were inaccessibly, but I don't think I would ever notice if the NAS dropped of the network for maybe 30 seconds if I am not reading/wrinting on the NAS when it drops off.

        Hello lundmilo,

I see, I understand. We'll see if others have the same experience to share here. If i get a chance I can try too to see if I get the same results and look for what could have caused it.
