Disk 2 fail. I change it but nothing happens!!!
Hello, i have the Readynas Nv+ with 4x2TB disks installed.
2 days ago a disk 2 fail message appears at the screen and today i take a new one.
I pulled out the old failed disk and replaced withh the new one.
After the replacement, nothing happens.
"Disk 2 inserted" is the only message that appears for a few seconds and then nothing.
What else i have to do?
Now the new disk is inserted, but the led No2 is still blinking!!!
Please i need help..
Thanks

- PapaBear1ApprenticeCheck you logs in Status -> Logs and see if it has reported any problems with the drive.
- giannispassAspirantI have forgot the user name and password.
How i can recover them? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredFirst, before you attempt to recover those, could you open RAIDar (http://www.readynas.com/downloads). Do you see anything of interest in the Info (far right) column or when you hover the mouse over the volume or disk LEDs?
- giannispassAspirantYes, the leds at disks 1,3,4 are green and at the disk 2 is not green, is orange if i remember right(im a not in the office right now).
This is what you mean or something else? - giannispassAspirantAt RAIDar, i have orange light at disk 2, saying Channel2 Seagate 1863GB (DEAD).
Also, orange light at Vol Disk: Volume C:Raid Level X, Not redundant. A disk failure, will render this volume dead.
Also at info, it says 4.1.6
What is all this??? - RabbieAspirantDid you hot-plug the new disk in slot?
If no, please try hot-plug the new disk in slot. - giannispassAspirantThe fail disk is out of the slot, for 2 days.
This time i am looking for the new one.
The slot was empty all this time.
Do you say, try to insert the failed disk again and when it recognizes it, pull out this and insert the new one?
Have in mind also, that the new one is as i buy it.
I didnt formatted it.
Is it something i have to do?
Thanks - RabbieAspirantDo not insert the failded disk.
Just move the new disk from the slot(if the new one still in slot), then insert the new one in slot again.
Do not poweroff the system during the up whole operations. - giannispassAspirantPull the disk out, "Disk 2 Removed".
Then, i am inserting again the disk into the slot, "Disk 2 inserted".
Thats it...
Nothing happens after this.
Led 2 still flashing and nothing more....
Why? - PapaBear1ApprenticeWhat is the status of your backup?
What is the make and model of the drive that you are trying to install?
