Empty folders
Hi,
Please, I need some guidance, when turning my ReadyNAS Duo back on after a month. I discover that I can access my shares, but some of my subfolders are empty. I know I didn´t delete any of the files. Some of the folders show content, some don`t.
When looking at the disc usage I see that it contains 725 Gb, so the files should still be there.
I have tried to enable CIFS, AFP, NFS and HTTP. But they all give the same depressing result. When opening some of the folder, they are empty.
I have also tried to access the shares from my Mac and my boxee box. They both show the same.
This is a big issue for me. All the pictures from my 8 year old daughter growing up are on this box. I have set it up with mirror raid. Did this to be sure I wouldn´t loose any data if one of the discs failed.
Can anyone give me some guidance? Please.
Jørgen

- OOM-9NETGEAR ExpertI have seen that when there are some characters have issues in CIFS, but it looks like you are having this issue on multiple protocols...
Have you tried resetting the permissions under the share/advanced tab? If there is a permissions issue with the folder (for some reason), that should help gain access to the folder. - jsannesAspirantHi again,
Tx for your reply!
I am twisting my head here. I cannot find the option to reset permissions? It says share folder owner = nobody and share folder group = nogroup? When I try to use my login, it just goes back to the nobody?
I have set the share folder everyone rights to read/write. But it has no effect :(.
Jørgen - jsannesAspirantHi again,
I now got access to the files and folders. I had to set the permissions to share folder everyone rights = read/write. This is not the best solution, but I guess I just take the ReadyNAS off my network during the night. I am so relieved to see that my pictures are still there!!!
Again, thank you for your reply and for putting me on the right track!
Jørgen - OOM-9NETGEAR ExpertI am glad that you were able to access your data again. :)
The nobody and nogroup is saying that no one person or group has the ownership... giving everyone the permission at the file level. The protocols permissions settings will still remain, so the data can be accessed by the people specified in the protocol permissions.
