Periodic "Error communicating with UPS 'UPS'" Error
This appears to have been seen in earlier firmware but I'm getting it in 6.9.2. I receive email alerts saying there is a problem then immediately another message saying its ok again. Happens a fe...

Presumably it would only be detected by the NAS if it was marked as a "stable" update ?
It was just released. Netgear's practice is to make releases available for manual installations first. There can be a 1-2 week lag before they appear on the update server.
I'm running 6.9.3, and haven't seen any issues with it.

Don't think that's quite the full story. Just tried it and when I set my update channel to "stable" and rechecked, 6.9.3 wasn't visible. When I set it to "beta" 6.9.3 appeared as an option. If you set it back to "stable" the 6.9.3 update disappears.
Conclusion - 6.9.3 isn't regarded as stable by netgear.

Hi Bornslippy
You can try to download the firmware and manually update the unit. There might be something with the update server but it is already released.
Here it is. OS 6.9.3

As I tried to explain above, that's not the right conclusion. The release simply isn't placed on the update server right away.
You can of course wait until it shows up as a NAS update. My guess is that will happen sometime this week.

As I have already demonstrated above, the release either isn't correctly marked or ACTUALLY isn't regarded as "stable" accordign to the rules that govern this functionality. Its nothing to do with a time effect - I can change the update channel setting at will and make the option for 6.9.3 appear and disappear.

Netgear (Marc_V) already told you it was released to production.
One more try: When 6.9.3 was in beta, it was available on the update server in the beta stream. Subsequently Netgear released it, and (as always) they made it available for manual installation first, and didn't change the update server. So it still shows up there in the beta category.
They usually put the production release on the update server between 1 and 2 weeks after they release it.
But let's stop this - there is no point to continuing. If you don't want to manually install the production release, just wait for it to show up as a stable update on the NAS.
