RN104 UPS showing up in log file all the time
As stated in the subject line but required again here for unknown reasons: RN104 UPS issue. Ever since I bought a UPS a year ago, I keep getting this in my log file every day: Mon Feb 20 2...

I expect the final to be released before the end of September - probably closer to the middle of the month.

Thanks!! I'll give it a go as soon as it's out.
Two things if I may ask -
What do you suspect the problem is?
Can you ask them to enable unticking the 'UPS' tick box under monitoring in case it still happens?
Cheers,
Bobby.

NUT (the UPS monitoring software) determines if UPS data is stale by comparing the current time to the timestamp of the last UPS update. These updates should occur every few seconds. Depending on a number of factors (which I really don't know), a running system process can be frozen while a disk spins up. So if the disk takes a long time to spin up, and it happens to start spinning up at just the wrong time, then the time difference between the last UPS update and the current time could grow larger than what NUT determines is normal. Then it will mark itself as having stale data, and send a communication error notification. We should be able to fix this by just extending the timeout long enough to allow the disks time to spin up.

Yes, I believe this is coming in 6.9.0.

Skywalker, thank you so much for all your help. That makes perfect sense to me!
I really appreciate the answers :)
Bobby.

This issue is still happening on 6.8.1
It seems a lot less often, so what you've done has helped, but not enough it seems.
New logs sent in just now.

Anybody care to have a second look? I was hoping after almost a year this was resolved...

Skywalker did suggest that 6.9 would have the longer timeout, so maybe you should try that. It's at RC-1, so it should be stable. Also, it likely will be released shortly, so you could of course wait a bit longer for that.

Thanks, that's good to know. I'll wait for 6.9!
He also said I should be able to untick the greyed out UPS tick box too, that would also solve my problem!
Thanks for your reply.
Bobby.

Upgraded to 6.9 a few days ago, no change.
Also emailing log messages to hotmail is now broken!
Can someone please revisit this? I'm hoping this can be soon rather than waiting that long again!!

Anyone?

Sigh.... back to being ignored it seems. And to think this is what Netgear's phone team call their 'support' .

Done. Thank you for looking at it.
For the record, I am still E-Mailed about the UPS issue, even though I have unticked it under Settings / Alerts!

Is this problem resolved?
- bobba84Mar 08, 2018Luminary
If by resolved you mean me giving up after a year and unplugging the USB cable from my UPS, then I guess so. I hope ReadyNAS's can handle unsafe shutdown.

Thankyou to whoever quietly snuck in the ability to untick the UPS message tick box in 6.9.3! Even though my issue was never resolved, at least it won't annoy the crap out of me anymore!!
- bobba84Mar 29, 2018LuminaryOn second thought, maybe not. It still emails me. Silly me getting my hopes up with netgear. Never again.
