Ready NAS Data Recovery

Hi

I have a 104 that recently went rogue on me.
It would either sit there is 'retry startup' or it would come up, say it cannot connect to discovery server, but I would be able to load into it on my local ip, but then it would say to remove inactive drives (which it marked as all 4)..

Anyway.. I have pulled the devices out, connected them via USB into a laptop and ran reclaime file recovery, it straight away seen the raid 5 array and it is currently scanning the volumes and so have seems to have found most of the files (I had mainly SCSI volumes rather than NAS shares).

I have a few questions...
1) To reclaim the data through reclaime, it is saying purchase a 'standard' license, rather than ultimate, does anyone here know if that is because it is a iSCSI rather than a NAS volume so therefore it is because I have them as NTFS file systems?

2) Has anyone had any success with other tools such as ZAR to recover the data? I don't want to pay the 1st license, then find out I need the more expensive license in particular and then not have what I am after anyway..

And does anyone have any free options as well?

Did you consider contacting NETGEAR support and purchasing a data recovery contract?

Thanks for the response mdgm, but no I didn't.

I contacted them originally and they thought the device was faulty and raised an RMA. So I already spent $40 to get a next day delivery as well as now having to pay around 30-40 to send it back because the issue wasn't the chassis as the problem was identical in both chasis.

So not sure about going down that path and then also spending more money to potentially send my kit in if they cannot get in remotely.
I am happy to do it myself and if need be happy to create a linux partition if that is the recommended path, in general I prefer to be able to do this at home, as I said I can already see the 1000's of file through Reclaime, I just need to know if the standard license will work ReclaiMe and/or are there other alternatives, preferably cheaper - free.

Does Reclaime work with md raid with BTRFS on top? You should ask them about that.
