ReadyNAS 3200, end of life or not?
I just received an email from NETGEAR regarding the release of 4.2.28 for the OS 4, Intel-based ReadyNAS products:
Dear ReadyNAS® Customer,
We want to thank you for being a loyal customer and would like to notify you of a firmware update, V4.2.28, for your ReadyNAS. You can download it here.
The V4.2.28 firmware will be the last software release on all the select ReadyNAS products listed on the web page below, including yours, due to its end-of-life status.

As in most technology products, there is a natural life cycle. After a certain point, a product must be declared “end of life” due to its lack of market demand, or its aging technology being replaced by newer and more advanced ones.
The ReadyNAS 2100 is on the end-of-life list yet the ReadyNAS 3200 is not on that list. In fact, the ReadyNAS 3200 is listed as a replacement for the ReadyNAS 1100. I wonder if that means that we can expect continuing software updates for the 3200. Even more curiously, the list says there is no replacement for the 2100, where I would think that the 3130 is a direct replacement for both it and the 1100 for which the 3200 is listed as a replacement.

It'd be odd for Netgear to keep some 4.2.x products and not others, but as you say the 3200's not on the eol list. Hopefully someone from Netgear will clarify.
One would consider the 3138 a replacement for both the 1100 and the 2100.|
There will be no further 4.2.x firmware.
The 3200 is EOL and should be added to the EOL list. The 3220 would be the suitable replacement for the 3200.
