ReadyNAS 524X: how can I access NAS outside my network (VPN, any app...)
Some time ago I realized that is no loger possible to install external apps in my NAS ReadyNAS 524X. I update my OS to v6.10.10. The performance of the NAS inside my network is OK, but I am not able to access it outside the network. Could anybody help me to solve this problem (via VPN or any other app to remote access). Thanks!

The version of Debian used by the NAS has been archived (end-of-life). To install new apps, you need to at least make the mods here:
Note post 37 in particular.
Once you've done that, you can install using ssh. If you want to also install from the web ui, then you should also downgrade to 6.10.9.

Likely you used ReadyCloud for that. It was shut down by Netgear about a year ago.
There are two options for a VPN. One is to use a router that has OpenVPN (or a similar VPN) built in. Netgear Orbi and Nighthawk routers have this (as do some other vendor's routers).
The other is to install ZeroTier on the NAS. There is a long thread on that here:
If you have trouble doing that, @Sandshark should be able to give advice.
