ReadyNAS NV+ V2 OS reinstall and factory reset password
I cannot get my readyNAS NV+ V2 to reset the admin password. I've done the OS reinstall as well as the factory reset option. I've tried all the passwords below and they were all I could find. This is rather frustrating and doesnt make sense because I am unable to get into the web portal and make any changes without the password:
admin and infrant1
admin and netgear1
admin and admin
admin and blank
root and root
root and blank
None of these are working after the factory reset AND os reinstall. This was purchased from Newegg on Black Friday right when they hit the shelves I think. Is it possible I have a faulty unit and bad firmware. (would like to be able to update the firmware, but I cant log in to the dumb thing) :(

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredA factory default (wipes all data, settings, everything) will update to the latest firmware provided you have a stable internet connection.
With the NV+ v2 the default password has been changed. See http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/what_is_the_frontview_default_login_and_password_after_a_factory_default
Welcome to the forum! - bmuscotty88AspirantThank you for the reply! I was scratching my head on this one and was unaware the device connects out to the internet to do a fw update with the reset. I'll update my documentation. :)
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIt's one of the new features of the v2 devices.
I'd suggest you also take a look at the manuals (http://www.readynas.com/docs) - bmuscotty88AspirantI can now log in. :) I noticed however that there is no option to disable drive spindown. Just today alone the drives spun down and back up about 10 times. With this many spin downs and spin ups I doubt these hard drives are going to last very long at all. Is there a awy to keep the drives spun up all the time?
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredOn startup the disk spin-down is set to automatically happen after 10 minutes of inactivity. Using SSH you can kill the noflushd service if you like.
