Rsync PC to ReadyNAS
I have been trying to follow the instructions here:
http://analystdeveloper.com/blogs/gurkaneng/archive/2007/08/05/3493.aspx
to pull my W7 "Users" sub-folder to my ReadyNAS but I haven't had much luck.
Frontview has change a little since the guide as put together in 2007.
Would someone who has a currently working system please post some up-to-date screen shots or syntax?
I've just got too many variables in the air at the moment.
EDIT: added link

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhat Rsync client are you using?
Deltacopy is one.
There was some good instructions on how to use this posted but unfortunately the image hosting site that hosted the images has closed down. - onimodAspirantHi mdgm
I was trying to use DeltaCopy but it seems whatever I do I cannot get the syntax right.
I don't even know where to start to try and find the problem.
The 'Test Connection' fails by timing out and when I start the backup anyway the logs show a failed connection with the PC.
The DeltaCopy service seems to be running okay and I've opened the firewall. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredHost should be IP address of PC
Path should be sharename (what you've shared a folder on your PC as) e.g. "Users" - onimodAspirantDeltaCopy virtual directory: "Rsync"
Path: "c:/Users/Username"
ReadyNAS
Remote: Rsync Server
Host: "192.168.1.40" or "192.168.1.40::Rsync"
Path: "Users/Username"
Login; Password with or without
connection failed - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredSo the sharename is Rsync? Sounds like you should try "192.168.1.40" (no quotes) as the Host and 'Rsync" (no quotes) as the path.
- onimodAspirant"Rsync" is the name of the virtual directory specified as "c:/Users" in DeltaCopy:

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredHmm screenshot suggests you've called it "backup". Try using the name of the virtual directory as the path.
- onimodAspirantThe screenshot isn't mine - it's from the blog in the original post that I have been using as a guide.
I've tried re-installing DeltaCopy just in case too.
I tried Host:"192.168.1.40", Path:"backup" in the path and the test connection still times out. - StephenBGuru - Experienced User
Does it also fail when you run it?onimod wrote: The screenshot isn't mine - it's from the blog in the original post that I have been using as a guide.

There are a couple of scenarios where test connection fails, but the backup works. - onimodAspirantI've tried to simplify a couple of things
DeltaCopy virtual directory: "Backup"
Path: "c:/Backup"
ReadyNAS
Remote: Rsync Server
Host: "192.168.1.40"
Path: "Backup"
Here is the (failed) log:Protocol: rsync
Source: 192.168.1.40::Backup
Destination: [Data]/Technology/Backup/VPCZ2/Rsync
rsync: failed to connect to 192.168.1.40 (192.168.1.40): Connection timed out (110)
rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(122) [Receiver=3.0.8]
It still seems to be a connection issue somewhere.
