Should I add SSH support?
New to ReadyNAS, picked up two Pro 4's ... one for home, one for the office, intending to mirror each other.
After spending about 12 days copying all my old content to one of the new boxes, FrontView suddenly stopped responding in the middle of the last backup job (of course it was the last...) ... the shares worked, and I could see the backup continued to run. It looks like SSH-ing into the box is a pretty common first step when this happens, but I thought I saw some sort of dire warning that SSH support would void my warranty, or something equally unfriendly.
Luckily for me, a reboot and locating with RAIDar seems to have brought it back (for some reason it still didn't respond until I ran RAIDar).
But since it looks like Frontview may not be the world's most stable front-end, I want to be ready in case there is a next time. And of course, later today I'll start another huge, long job to mirror this box to the other one...
So... install SSH? Does it really cause me warranty risk?
