Time Machine "selected backup disk does not support the required capabilities"
ReadyNAS204
Firmware 6.9.4 Hotfix 1
Mac OS 10.14.12 on iMac Pro
Time machine backups from my iMac Pro to my ReadyNAS204 began failing shortly after updating my iMac Pro to 10.14.2. I've tried resetting the time machine settings on my ReadyNAS; however, now when I select the new disk from the iMac's Time Machine preferences panel I get an alert box with contents "The selected network backup disk does not support the required capabilities." (See attached graphic.)
Advice?
Thanks,

Re: Time Machine "selected backup disk does not support the required capabilities"
Hi @sfinn
Were you able to check the protocol used for the Time Machine backup? Default should be SMB and your updated Mac should also be using SMB.
Have you tried checking if 'Enable Bonjour Service Discovery' and 'Enable Bonjour Time Machine broadcast via SMB' were both checked under Control Panel > File Services > Advanced.
It seems that this issue happened after users update their Macs.
Here are some links that might help

Hope this helps!
