Trash folder enabling

So i'm trying to use shotwell image manager on ubuntu and for some reason it refuses to delete RAW files from my readynas share.

I believe this is down to a lack of trash/recycle bin feature on readynas, so that being said i was looking for a way to enable trash just for this purpose.

I came across this thread but its closed now  https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/Can-Recycle-Bin-be-enabled-for-CIFS-and-OS-6-1-2-on-a-314/td-p/856707/page/3

I've tried to follow the steps and set the name to ".trash" yet i can't see anything created on my share, did i miss something? Or is there another way to enable trash that is supported in 6.4.2 ?

    Hi sg86,

Thanks for posting this in the community. Unfortunately, we don't support Recycle Bin feature in OS 6. Maybe other community members will chime in and help you out with a workaround that will work on a new OS 6 Firmware.

    Kind regards,

That thread you mentioned talks about adding a config file using SSH. Using SSH is at your own risk.
