UPS APC Data Cable Splitter?

I have a UPS APC-700VA... It only has one data cable - does anyone know if you use an RJ45 splitter, whether it would send information to two ReadyNas devices? Or is the data cable for two way traffic?

  • Hi, Can you give me the full model #'s for both UPS and NAS's.

I don't approve of cable splitter. You should have a USB hub.
UPS on low battery sending signal to hub. From hub, a cable to each NAS.

    Regards, Marto
  • Splitter would not work, needs to be 2-way communication direct with the UPS. The rj-45 cable used by APC is basically a USB cable.
  • The devices are a ReadyNas Duo V1 and a ReadyNas NV+ V2 - I have one UPS but it can only talk to one device directly and it would appear that the NV+V2 cannot alert another NAS to shutdown, or be alerted to shutdown by another NAS. Whereas the older Duo V1 can do all of these, and more!
  • hopefully some good news for you :D
ARM radiator, v5.3.7 now allows the V2 to remotely monitor the UPS status from another ReadyNAS, I've not tried it the other way.
i've got mine hooked up an x86 ReadyNAS
