USB Drives Not Showing Up
Hello Forum,
Here at InterLab Supply we have a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo that we use as our File Server. We have, or should I say HAD, a backup protocol that would backup everything on the File Server to an external USB WD 2TB Drive. My supervisor wants to be able to rotate the drives every Wednesday and she purchased a 3TB WD drive from amazon and plugged it in where the 2TB would go. But now I have a problem, the ReadyNAS Duo wont see either USB hard drives and says that there is nothing plugged in. (See Images 1 & 2)

I have tried switching the USB to all of the ports and making the backup use the ports I switched them to and nothing seems to work. We have our file set to backup every 4 hours and it's failed every time. (See Image 3)

Does anyone have any idea why they're not being recognized?

What firmware are you running?
Was the old USB disk umounted properly or just unplugged, failing to in mount a USB drive can certainly cause problems like this.
Was the 3 tb formatted before attaching and if so what formatting?
Have you rebooted the NAS and tried attaching the drives? - You are correct sir. I have a V1 ReadyNAS Duo. I apologize for the misinformation.
I am running firmware version 4.1.13. It says it is the latest version.
I think she just unplugged it. And how do I mount a USB to the ReadyNAS?
No, the 3TB wasn't formatted, it was empty but I don't think it was formatted.
I'll try re-starting the ReadyNAS and attaching the drives.
