It appears I have now have a Recycle Bin for my user account, but I'll have to see if it sticks over a period of time. I tried to get it to appear by disabling and later re-enabling the "Recycle Bin for private home shares" item in hte Security > User & Groups Accounts > Preferences settings page. That didn't appear to work.

Then, out of frustration I created a folder in the top directory of my user account named "Recycle Bin". I then went into a subfolder and created and deleted a small text test file. Magically that deleted file showed up in the Recycle Bin folder. The Recycle Bin contained the (mostly empty) folder where I had created the test file. The contents of that folder contained the delted file and nothing else.

I could not recover the accidently deleted file from a day ago, but at least I will have a Recycle Bin for my ReadyNAS user account going forward. Or so it seems.
