iPad media browser / viewer ?

I'm running v1.1.0 readyDLNA on my pro6 and yes, the Bonjour service is running as well.

I'm interested in the best DLNA client to interface with the pro6 on an iPad -yes, on our LAN, not remotely- (to view video and play music, although for music I should probably just use the iTunes interface since the music on our pro6 is backed up from iTunes?).

I found a readyDLNA iPad app in apple's app store, but it doesn't seem to want to connect...?
Sorry if this is an out-of-scope-of-this-forum type question because it is really more an iPad issue, but I'm wondering if others have any good experience with utilizing their ipad to watch video / play music from their readynas?

Thanks

i've had pretty good experiences with avplayerhd, using ftp to access the pro. This doesn't work so well over the internet, but works ok on my local network. This is not DLNA of course.
  • So you would then be moving the media to the ipad first in that situation? ...or streaming?

Avplayerhd streams using FTP. so I am not downloading.
  • Thanks

Have you tried any of the readyDLNA apps available via the app store? Any luck with those at all?

I tried 8player (the lite version) - which seemed reasonable but honestly I didn't kick the tires much. At some point I intend to try the plex app, but I haven't got around to it yet.
  • I'm using Buzz Player HD and it works great. Supports SMB. I also want to standardize on Plex for everything, but struggling to get it to work on my NV+ v2 with RAIDiator 5.3.7
  • I have my media on iCloud. Sorry, it doesn't answer your question, but it is a solution to seeing your media on iOS devices.

I used "StreamToMe" before I switched to iCloud. It required running a program on my PC to serve my media to the app.
