PS3 cannot locate NAS server
Hi
Im a NAS newbie and im trying to setup my NAS NV + v2 at the moment. I have media share folder with files in video, photos and music, i have dnla activated on the control panel but my PS3 cannot find any media server when i search for it.
NAS is connected to my netopia router and the PS3 is connected to router via wireless. I can play PS3 games online so i have no issue connecting to PS3 to the router.
Anyone got any adice on what my problem might be here? Are there ports that need to be opened on the router for DNLA to work?
Thanks
Brian

Is Media Streaming enabled on the PS3 From memory its under Settings>> Network Settings and the last option on the menu - brianchapmanAspirantNo error code on PS3 it just says cant find media server
Media streeming is enabled on PS3 and dlna enabled on the NAS.

can you see the media server from a laptop/smartphone via wireless - brianchapmanAspirantyea i can see the shares content from windows media player on my laptop, and when i disable dlna on the NAS this stops working through media player, so looks like the NAS setup is ok.
At the moment i have shares setup on nas, dlna is activated on those shared folders, i have media streaming enabled on ps3 but when i search for media servers it says none found. - devilsrearAspirantok so this happened to me when I initially got my duo v1. I had purposely bought it to host all my movies / music and stream them via a ps3. It turned out that the router wasn't dlna compliant (a crappy thomson) was the fault. I ended buying a netgear 1 gigabit switch and put that between the router and the ps3. The ps3 can see the nas 100% all of the time.
I'd suggest you try that - simple option and go for the gigabit switch - about £25 - if it doesnt work you can return it
