RN516 "mount_block_root + 1f1" after os 6.7.3 update

Hi there,

I tried updating from 6.7.2 to 6.7.3 today and it has killed my Readynas.

Now I have the error mount_block_root +1f1 whenever it boots.

I have tried to do the usb recovery but it is not working. It gets to the stage where it says booting from external usb and then it goes to the error message. I have also tried pressing the reset button at the back to get the boot menu but it also does not work.

Please I would really appreciate any help as I am panicking.

  • If you have updated to 6.7.3 and ran into this issue please try USB Boot Recovery with ReadyNAS OS 6.7.4 which is now available!

If you have not yet upgraded please upgrade to 6.7.4 rather than 6.7.3. If your system has already been fixed I would still suggest updating to 6.7.4 the normal way using the web admin GUI.

If you can't do USB Boot Recovery despite trying multiple different USB keys and following the directions you'll need to contact support.

This error message would suggest that USB Boot Recovery is the right way forward. Have you tried other USB keys?

Which version of Windows are you using to create the USB Boot Recovery key?

  • This just happened to me last night aswell.

    mount_block_root

    +1f1

After trying to do a firmware update.

    :(

  • Hello mdgm,

I'm using Windows 10. I followed the instructions. Am I supposed to use any other version?

    Please advise.

Can adinx or Tintin75 explain how this was solved? I have the same problem but am not having any success.

Changement du NAS, moyennant finance. Impossible à booter, verrouiller de chez verrouiller. Cause mise à jour du firware.

      Bonjour,

      Merci d'avance.

adinx have you tried multiple USB keys? So it won't boot off the USB? I've sent you a PM.

Tintin75, have you tried USB Boot Recovery?

  • I tried everything possible but couldn't get it to work. Got really frustrated. Did an RMA and they are sending the replacement.
