ReadyDLNA album artist and contributing artist problem

I seem to have a problem with ReadyDLNA presenting the correct album artist and contributing artist information to DLNA/uPnP clients.

I have both a Duo v1 and NV+ v2 and both units have ReadyDLNA v1.1.4 on them.

Using Windows Media Player as the client.

Reading the files directly in to WMP, they show and group correctly.

Opening the uPnp source, I am seeing a problem:
- For mp3 files this information seems correct.
- For mp4/aac files, the album artist is getting the same information as the contributing artist. This causes grouping issues, i.e. I am seeing the same album broken in to several items as the grouping by album artist is not working.

I enabled debugging and viewed the logs, but that didn't really help.

  • I wonder Skywalker whether you could comment on this. After a bit of reviewing the raw upnp data exchanged, I found the following tag mapping:

From MP3 (.mp3) files (display and group correctly):

    <upnp:artist> album artist tag </upnp:artist>

From AAC (.m4a) files (do not display and group correctly):

    <upnp:artist> artist tag </upnp:artist>

Note, album artist is not used on AAC files. Could this be fixed?

    Thanks
  • Hi Skywalker,

Success! Thanks, this update has fixed the issue - I tested with foobar2000 and Windows Media Player, album artist now returned correctly. Actually I noticed track and disc numbers also now returned correctly (at least in foobar2000 they show up correctly now, but they didn't before).

Can you prepare a fixed version for NV+ v2 (ARM) also please.
