AC 1900 WiFi Range Extender EX7000

Recently, the extender has been acting strange with the connection going in and out. This occurred after the router (Nighthawk) being updated. A new firmware update has come out for the EX7000 but every time I attempt to update it, it says it has failed to update the GUI language. Any help on this situation?
This is the update info:

Current GUI Language Version 1.0.0.66_2.1.30.1
New GUI Language Version 1.0.1.76_2.1.30.1
Current Firmware Version 1.0.0.66
New Version 1.0.1.78_1.0.140

    You're not the only one, I'm having the same issue here =/.

     

    1) Edit: Follow this link:

    https://kb.netgear.com/000060211/EX7000-Firmware-Version-1-0-1-78

     

    2) Scroll down the page until you see:

    "Download Link: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/EX7000/EX7000-V1.0.1.78_1.0.140.zip  "

     

    3) Save the file and unzip it (you will be uploading the file with the .chk extension). Once that is complete, log into mywifiext.net and go to firmware upgrade. Go to your downloads folder and find the unzipped folder. On mywifiext, navigate to firmware upgrade, select browse, then click on the .chk file and upload it. It'll take a minute or two, but it worked for me =]!

      Thanks alot! The update worked but for whatever reason my extender still drops connection and then it comes back( the green Ghz and arrows lights will turn off and come back on). This was a problem before the update just to clarify.

        Yup...I'm having the same problem. This firmware update appears to be buggy and causes signal instabilities. My devices disconnect all the time with this firmware update. Had to downgrade my firmware back to the previous firmware version to get it back to working in a stable manner. Sucks...would really like to take advantage of the new mesh feature....

    Hi,

    I've also been having nothing but problems with my EX7000 (used in AP mode) since the V1.0.1.78_1.0.140 firmware upgrade.

     

    I've just disabled the "Smart Connect" feature (which I can't see how this would be relevant in AP mode anyway...) and so far it seems to be working OK.

  • I have also problems with losing connection after upgrade to firmware 1.0.1.78_1.0.140 mainly the 5 GHz connection

    I'm using the Fast Lane mode.

    Even resetting to factory defaults will not work, still losing connection and also trouble with configuring the fast lane mode => 5 GHz not working.

     

    I reloaded the older version V1.0.0.66_1.0.126 and configured the Fast Lane mode again and everything works fine again.

     

    I hope the next firmware upgrade will be a stable version

  • Same problem for me, since the last firware upgrade EX7000-V1.0.1.78_1.0.140 the netgeart ex7000 is completely unstable and always lose the wifi connection. It was still garantee so i sent it back to Amazon to be refund and buy another from another more serious brand

      I have received messages from Netgear saying that they will be contacting me soon because of this issue. We'll see what they say.

        Did you receive a response from Netgear?

         

        I recently upgraded to the lateste firmware version V1.0.1.78_1.0.140.

        Afterwards I enabled the OneWifi (previously I had different names) and Smart Connect options.  I have found that the 2.4 and 5GHz bands are lit on the extender but the 'Device to Extender LED' light is not lit. 

         

        Additionally, on the status page of the extender configuration it states the 'WiFi Extender connection are up and running' but the 2.4 and 5 GHz connection also on the status page indicates 'No Connection' although they are green. 

         

        Do I also need to download to the earlier firmware version?  If all of my networks are now the same name, how can I tell what is connected to the extender vs the router?  Nothing is showing as connected in the configuration settings any longer.
