AC 750 Device light

at what point should I expect the device light to come on on my extender? The power, WPS, and router light are on. I got a notification that the extender is connected and has a strong wifi signal.

thank you

Re: AC 750 Device light

The extender is connected to an xfinity modem, I believe is called a gateway. It is their newest wifi modem.

Re: AC 750 Device light

The device light comes on when you connect a pc/laptop/phone/device to the extender. Did you connect something to it?

Re: AC 750 Device light

Thank you for your reply. I am absolutely without knowledge about these things. I was able to get the extender up and running and three of the four lights are on.
I noticed that after I set up the extender that somehow the Netgear app appeared on, my wife’s cell phone. Neither of us downloaded it.
I have no idea how to connect to the extender. We each have an iPhone and an iPad we want to link up to the extender (4 devices total) and I have no clue as to how to do that. Any direction you can provide is much appreciated.

Re: AC 750 Device light

If you went through setup, you would have set the extender with its own ssid (name). Or if you set it up using WPS (push button method), it would have setup with the same ssid (name) plus _ext at the end.

So whatever you setup the name as, connect to that. None of the AC750 devices are mesh devices so shouldn't be set with the same name as the primary router.

Re: AC 750 Device light

Thank you. We see the extender but cannot remember the password. I do not see any way to get the password. Any advice?

thank you

Re: AC 750 Device light

I have attempted to enter passwords but they are not accepted and there is no option to reset. I did a factory reset but the extender continues to refuse my password. I downloaded the app and that also will not accept my password. Same story when I went to the website.

Re: AC 750 Device light

when you reset the extender, you pushed and held reset while powered on until the lights changed. Should be 7-15 seconds.

Then you'll have to reinstall it. Use the installation assistant.

Here's a video of how to use the assistant.

Re: AC 750 Device light

I have spent a couple days working on this. Basically, here is what happens. I am able to connect to the network and then my extender “device” light illuminates. I am not, however, able to open the assistant as I have no internet connection. I attempted to change my password so that I can get the assistant to launch, but since I have no internet connection I cannot change my password.
it looks to me like I cannot get on the webpage because I cannot change my password because I cannot login without being connected to the netgear extender.
this makes no sense.
I downloaded the app and same thing. It will not let me online without my password, which it will not let me change as I am not connected.
we have had this extender for years. It never has worked and we didn’t know why. We no longer have the packaging so I don’t have any supporting documentation if I need it.
any idea what I can do ?

Re: AC 750 Device light

still sounds like you didn't fully reset it or the password would be back to the default.
