R9000 Router and AC1900 Extender-Please HELP; At my wits end

Please help...I continue to experience issue with extender (AC1900) not allowing connection to 2.4g network.  Netgear replaced initial r9000 and AC1900 extenders, but I am now 1 month over my year warranty and can't get that support.  Never have problems with extending the 5g network from r9000 router.  This is a continuing issue that I have faced and cannot get Netgear to support or provide a fix because the issue keeps resurfacing.  I have like $600 into this equipment and want to kick the bestbuy guy that talked me into it in 2017.  How do I fix or what should I be looking at to replace the extender or the equipment all together?

AC1900 is a speed indication, not a model number (which starts with EX).  What extender model do you have, and what firmware version is it running?
