I just had an internet modem/wifi router (all in one) installed. The router portion has limited range and I acquire an AC2400 Nighthawk. Following the instructions I connected the AC2400 to the internet modem/wifi router with an Ethernet cable and installed the Nighthawk app on my smart phone. Everthing seems to be working and the Nighthawk delivers a much stronger signal. My question is, will this system work without being cabled, so I can move the AC2400 to a differnet location?

The AC2400 doesn't have extender or repeater mode.
But you can move it and have it connected via ethernet, powerline, or a moca adapter if you want.
I'd make sure its running in access point mode to prevent a double nat issue.
